Common Rides:

KATY Trail - No riding season would be complete without a ride on the scenic KATY trail which extends from St. Charles westward across the state to Sedalia MO. Organize your ride to include a visit to one of the areas great Wineries (my favorite is Mt. Pleasant, located in Augusta).

Forest Park Bike Path  - the City of St. Louis is blessed with one of this country's great city parks, Forest Park. It contains a nice paved bicycle path that is approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) in length. This path is shared with runners, walkers and roller bladers so be alert.

Sam Vadalabene Bike Path along the Great River Road  - Starts at trail head just north of Alton IL. Ride the Sam Vadalabene Bike path northwest to Elsah, Grafton or Pere Marquette State Park. You can ride a few short miles or take a nice long ride along Mississippi River. Some of the most scenic miles are from Grafton to Pere Marquette State Park. Grafton is a good place to get a bite to eat.

Riverfront Trail  - Trailnet is a developing 10 mile recreational greenway perfect for hiking, biking, rollerblading and the enjoyment of nature. Poised along the Mississppi River, the trail offers an experience with diverse wildlife and native plants without the distraction of street traffic. It travels through a part of St. Louis history and along the edges of old St. Louis neighborhoods. The Riverfront Trail begins at Lenore K. Sullivan and Biddle Streets at the old Laclede Power building (about a half mile north of the Arch). Riverfront Trail cue sheet with mileages and points of interest.

Tour of St. Albans - Classic ride that starts at Smokehouse Restaraunt in West St. Louis County, travels past Spirit Airport, around the edge of Babler State Park and on to St. Albans. Very popular and scenic local ride. The ride is primarily flat with two significant hills (one each direction). Heads store in St. Albans sells food and drink and has restroom facilities. Home to the Arch - An out and back to the St. Louis Riverfront and the Arch. Starts at Southwest Park on South Rock Hill Road in Webster Groves and visits downtown, the Riverfront, the Arch, Saint Louis U. and Forest Park on the return.

Bluff Road to Prairie du Rocher IL - Starts at the Market Place in Columbia IL and travels south on Bluff Road through old Valmeyer to Prairie du Rocher. Nice ride on a Sunday morning. Stop for a cool down in front of the quarry cave openings just north of town. Praire du Rocher cue sheet with mileages and points of interest.

Webster Groves/Kirkwood Loop - Starts at Southwest Park on south Rock Hill Road about 3/10 mile south of Big Bend. Nice evening ride that is easily chnaged to modify the mileage.
